Ella Fitzgerald - "The Secret of Christmas"
After discussing what heralds the holidays for me, with my dear friend Lexie, I realized it wasn’t snow, or lights, or Christmas cookies, but a general shift in demeanor from other people to a kinder more generous nature. It’s a subtle move towards being a little kinder towards each other, something I think the world needs dearly.
It strikes me that this is the type of shift we need the entire year long. Driving to work this week this short 2 minute song came on and it was a breath of fresh air. It wasn’t an aggressively “holiday” anthem full of choirs and jingle bells, it was a simple plea from one human to another to be a little kinder, every day, all year long.
So today, with hopeful generosity in my heart, I choose Ella Fitzgerald’s "The Secret of Christmas" as my, hold on to the feeling, remember that we’re all doing our best, give them the gift of grace, song for a, we shall all rise together, kindness costs nothing, the smallest smile can change a person’s day, Friday.
