Anna of the North - "Lovers"
She made what Fader calls "2017's Chillest Heartbreak Record" and she's slowly making a name for herself with both collaborative work and inspired solo efforts. Oslo-based Norwegian singer-songwriter Anna Lotterud is originally from Gjøvik.
Her music has been regarded as "soft, soul-bearing electro-pop". Her unstudied singing style adds a rough-edged intensity to the duo’s crystalline, contemplative synthpop. The 28-year-old’s vocals are just as memorable on two recent Tyler, The Creator songs, “Boredom” and “911 / Mr. Lonely,” both from his soul-baring new full-length, Flower Boy.
During her studies in Melbourne, Australia, Anna met New Zealand-born producer Brady Daniell-Smith at one of his shows and together formed Anna Of The North, with Anna doing the vocals and Brady producing the melodies. In June 2014, Anna Of The North released her debut single Sway, which became an immediate internet hit and landed her a record deal with Honeymoon in the US. In September 2014, The Chainsmokers officially remixed Sway. She followed up the song with "The Dreamer" and "Baby", hitting the top in Hype Machine and later supporting Kygo on tour across Europe. Over the next few months, she released the song "Us" and "Oslo" to critical acclaim. In May 2017, Anna announced her debut album 'Lovers' with the title track as well as lead single "Someone" for a September release.
She's got the sound that makes you relate immediately. It's every girl (and boy) across the world feeling all the feels.
So today, with a heart and a beat, I choose Anna of the North's "Lovers" as my, go on and hope, see the wall and prep to climb, find your own story for the building, song for a, here I go again, butterflies and lightning bugs, bloom for me, Tuesday.
