Ella Fitzgerald - "Heat Wave"
It’s hot up in here y’all!
As I saw the temps for today and tomorrow creep into the triple digits for quite a bit of the country, this classic little ditty popped into my head.
It written by Irving Berlin for the 1933 musical As Thousands Cheer, and introduced in the show by Ethel Waters, and while her version is fun, this is the one I always think about.
So today, with sweat on my brow, I choose Ella Fitzgerald’s version of Irving Berlin’s “Heat Wave” as my, think cool thoughts, ice ice baby, shade never felt so good, song for a, blast me with it, move a little slower and yet a little quicker, down my back like ice cubes in tea, Wednesday.
