Clare & The Reasons - "Pluto"
Today I woke thinking about our place in the universe, and whom is allowed to tell you what you are, or who you are, or what you are meant to be. It’s an interesting thing, giving power over to other people to then decide for us if we are talented enough, strong enough, brave enough, smart enough, etc. to do what it is that we wish to do.
Who on earth, literally, are they that we should give them any such power to determine our fates? We are the masters of our own future, and it’s merely the illusion of acceptance to others’ decisions that give those decisions any credence.
Possibly this is too much for a simple reflection and a song, but the idea that because someone once told you that you were ugly and so you agreed with them silently for years has now determined to the world that you are unattractive, when, in truth, you are an exquisitely beautiful original creature unlike any other is truly mind boggling to me.
Be whatever incredible, magical, beautiful creature that you wish to be. No one gets to determine your existence but you. I see you. I love you. I accept you.
So today, secure in my foundations, I choose Clare & The Reasons’ “Pluto” as my, be your own version of you, follow your heart, the only thing stopping you is you, song for a, believe yourself into anything, you are what you believe, you can be anything, Wednesday.
