Taylor Swift - "Red (2013 CMA Performance) w/ Alison Krauss & Vince Gill"
I’ll be honest, it took me a long time to come around to Taylor Swift. When I was younger, my jealousy clouded my judgement and the only things I understood were vocal performance. Something she herself has spoken about, how she really had to work on her live performances and knew that her songwriting was truly her way into the industry.
As I got older and understood more of the industry, what she had to go through, the difficulties around live arena performances, holding an individual voice when surrounded by label execs, writing your own experiences into song, I began to have a deeper appreciation for her as an artist.
I began to see the fearless, strong, powerful force that she is, and this time, with a bit more life under my belt as well, began to appreciate just what kind of magic it takes to remain that kind of light without letting yourself be dimmed.
It was this performance, live with country music legends Alison Krauss & Vince Gill, which was stripped down and intimate that truly made me realize the magic of Taylor Swift. She tells a story, one as old as time but that still, somehow, feels fresh and new in her version.
Personally I am living for her renaissance and all the newly rerecorded and rereleased music!
So, today, in full color, I choose Taylor Swift’s "Red (2013 CMA Performance) w/ Alison Krauss & Vince Gill" as my, 90mph, drive on, hold tight, song for a, find me, lighthouse, through the trees, Wednesday.
As a treat I’m giving you both the rehearsal and the live performance!
